Empoli’s Carli a candidate to replace Sabatini

Today’s edition of La Repubblica claims Empoli sporting director Marcello Carli could be the successor of Roma’s Walter Sabatini.

Sabatini admitted yesterday that he will leave Roma in June after president James Pallotta accepted his request for the termination of his contract. Sabatini’s future could be in Bologna and is being courted by former Roma director and current Bologna executive Claudio Fenucci, along with president Joey Saputo. It’s also possible Sabatini joins Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

For Roma, it’s possible that Carli and Pallotta’s close friend and confidant Alex Zecca could lead the efforts of the club in buying new players with the help of new software that Pallotta’s team is studying that helps identify ideal players.
