Iturbe chooses Bournemouth over Watford

17.45: Sky Sport’s Gianluca Di Marzio has reported on his official website that Iturbe is now a step away from joining Bournemouth. The player and his entourage are at the final details as the Argentine is ready to greet Bournemouth and spurn Watford. The deal is all but finalized.

SportItalia transfer journalist Alfredo Pedullà has released an update regarding the transfer of Juan Iturbe.

Reportedly, the Argentine has decided to reject a potential move to Watford in favor of a move to Bournemouth. The motivation behind Iturbe’s change of heart has to do with money. Watford offered Iturbe €1.5 million (net) in wages per season, which is more or less what he made with the Giallorossi. Bournemouth, however, has offered Iturbe a salary of €2.3 million (net) per season plus easily attainable bonuses worth €700,000, which are tied to Bournemouth not being relegated and Iturbe having either an assist or a goal in at least 5 matches.

Roma will also benefit from Iturbe’s choice of Bournemouth rather than Watford: the option to buy Iturbe will go from €18 million to €22 million, which Bournemouth will have a choice to exercise in the summer. The total deal could cost the English club a total of €24 million, as they will pay €2 million for the loan of the player.
