Roma still in the chase for Mitrovic

With earlier reports claiming Anderlecht’s Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic rejected Roma in favor of Newcastle, the Belgian club has come out to deny any such deal has been put in place and that Roma are still in contention along with other clubs.

“We are talking to different clubs,” Anderlect sporting director Herman van Holsbeeck told Calciomercato.it. “Will his future be in Italy? I cannot name names, but we are very busy.”

The striker is one of sporting director Walter Sabatini’s targets but the priority is ensuring Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is sealed for the capital club. Mitrovic remains a second choice, but stalling the deal might mean Roma miss out.
