It was another match with missed chances, but this time Roma were able to scrap out a 1-0 victory in Friuli against a stout Udinese side. The win brings Roma level on points with Juventus at the top of the Serie A table.

Roma were the more poised side in the opening 45 minutes. The Giallorossi controlled the possession and had opportunities to open the scoring thanks to moves from Juan Iturbe and Adem Ljajic. But it was center back Davide Astori who notched the opening goal thanks to a header that, after being shown on numerous replays, barely made it past the goal-line to give Roma a 1-0 lead going in half-time.

As was the them in the first half of the season, Roma found themselves wasting numerous chances in search of a second goal to put the game out of reach. Francesco Totti wasted the most notable amount of chances after misplaying several passes in Udinese’s area.

Things got even worse for Roma as they suffered a major blow in the closing 10 minutes when Adem Ljajic was stretchered off the field thanks to a high-knee from Giovanni Pasqual.

The Giallorossi were able to fend off Stramaccioni for the final 10 minutes plus injury time to earn a much-needed 3 points as they now get ready to face Lazio in Sunday’s Derby della Capitale.
