Il Messaggero: Updates on the transfer market

Today’s paper edition of Il Messaggero outlined possible scenarios for the upcoming transfer market of Roma:

For the attack, the names that are candidates to leave in January are Marco Borriello and Mattia Destro, who has struggled this season. Borriello is destined for the MLS while Destro is greatly admired by Milan. Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini wants at least €20 million for the young attacker. Antonio Sanabria will likely leave on loan while Roma will also lose Gervinho to the African Nations Cup. Possible solutions for the attack are Lukas Podolski and Stephen El Shaarawy, although this scenario for the Milan winger is unlikely. One name that has been linked is recent days is Diego Perotti, but he looks to be a solution for June instead of January.

Roma manager Rudi Garcia will be without Seydou Keita, who will also be away for the African Nations Cup, and does not seem willing to let Kevin Strootman go to Manchester United because of this. Salih Uçan, who has made only one appearance this season, will be allowed to go on loan (he has been connected to Cagliari, Cesena, and Parma), while Leandro Paredes will remain with the club through January.

Defensively, the priority is a left-back and a “fill-in” for Leandro Castan. Ashley Cole will likely go to the MLS – this could also be said for Urby Emanuelson. Roma will likely make more approaches for Vlad Chiricheș, who Spurs are willing to let leave on loan – a solution that Roma would favor. Roma would like to bring Eder Balanta to the club, but feel the asking price of €8-9 million is still too much. Sabatini has, reportedly, been closely tracking Augsburg left-back Baba Abdul Rahman, but the player only arrived in the summer and are unlikely to allow the Ghana international to leave so soon.
