Juventus and Roma close to securing centre back signings

According to Italian football website TuttoMercatoWeb.com as well as numerous other Italian sports news sources, both Roma and Juventus are on the verge of securing center back acquisitions which will arrive during the January transfer window.

Juventus are said to be close to signing Rolando (ex-Internazionale and Napoli) who was effectively frozen out of the Porto squad this past summer and has a contract expiring in June 2015. Meanwhile Roma have set their sights on Vlad Chiriches (Juventus were also reported to be interested last week) who is ready to say goodbye to Tottenham after a nightmarish 18 month spell there.

Roma Sporting Director Walter Sabatini has tracked Chiriches for a long time according to media outlets in Italy but lost out on him to Franco Baldini’s Tottenham in the summer of 2013.

If Roma are unable to sign Chiriches, their next target will reportedly be River Plate’s highly rated Eder Alvarez Balanta.
