Roma were able to overcome a shaky defensive performance and steal a victory in Bergamo against Atalanta by a score of 2 to 1. The victory takes Rudi Garcia’s men to 28 points on the season as the Giallorossi are now tied with Juventus at the top of the Serie A table.

It took less than 1 minute for Atalanta to open the scoring as Ashley Cole, who had a horrendous performance for Roma, was caught out of position as Maxi Moralez fired home past Morgan De Sanctis to give Atalanta a 1-0 lead.

Atalanta continued to pile the pressure on Roma as Colantuono’s men hit the post and had several opportunities to make it 2-0. Roma, however, made Atalanta pay for their inability to finish when Adem Ljajic, who was Roma’s best player in the evening, tied the match at 1-1 with a curling finish past Atalanta’s Sportiello.

Just three minutes before half-time, Radja Nainggolan finished off a beautiful counter-attack and gave Rudi Garcia’s men the lead.

Atalanta continued to pressure Roma in the second half, as German Denis nearly equalized but Morgan De Sanctis kept his cool and ensured Roma the lead.

The Giallorossi will travel to Russia on Tuesday and face CSKA Moscow in their final away Champions League group match.
