Davide Astori: “Destro? He’s a great guy and teammate.”

Roma defender Davide Astori appeared on Roma Radio this afternoon:

We were in Philadelphia during your presentation. Somebody asked you how it felt to have kept Destro off the national team…
We cleared that up soon afterwards.

What are the best features for the other players in your department (center-back)?
For Castan, his quality and temperament on the field, he gives intensity to any workout or match. Manolas amazed me by the personality he plays with and his physical qualities. Mapou is the newest and is also physical, but he is one of the central defenders who you feel closer to as a person.

What about yours (best qualities)?
Aside from ice cream and travel (laughs)…maybe it’s knowing the most about the Italian league, I complete the rest (of the central defenders).

He’s a strong player that made a hat-trick against Cagliari last year. He’s a great guy, but also a wonderful teammate.

You’ll also be returning to Bergamo (his place of birth)…
Well…let’s just say it’s always nice, I left my childhood, my family. It’s a place that’s always a pleasure to go to, along with Cagliari and Roma, I could return to live there.
