Federico Barba ready to face his parent club

Roma’s co-owned defender Federico Barba spoke with giovaniinrete.it about his feelings as he prepares to face the Giallorossi with his current team, Empoli.

Your rights are split between Roma and Empoli: next year all co-ownerships must be resolved, would you like to return to where you were born?
“I’d definitely like to go back to where I grew up. But let me be clear, if there isn’t a chance then I would be gladly go to Empoli.”

Who is the player on Roma who you fear the most?
“From what I’ve seen, Gervinho could be one of the key players. Excluding, of course, Totti, who every time he touches the ball you have to have be careful of.”

Who do you think is the favorite for the title?
“This year I see Roma in front of everybody because of their purchases on top of an already made roster. They also have cup competitions and they bought all strong players: if one doesn’t play then you play the other, the quality of the team won’t change much and this will only benefit them.”

You’re also going up against Florenzi who you played in the youth team with…
“Yes, it’s very nice to meet after we each took our own path.”

Your personal goals?
“Clearly if we don’t reach our collective target it all means we haven’t done well. Beyond this, the idea is to play as much as possible and play well and attract as much attention as I can.”

What changes in the jump from Serie B to Serie A?
“It’s an entirely different thing, a much different level. I’m glad I can measure myself against great players.”
