Lazio turns to Groupon to try and sell tickets

Having difficulties in selling season subscriptions, Rome-based club Lazio, the rivals of AS Roma, have turned to Groupon, a deal-of-the-day website that features discounted items usable at local or national companies, to attempt to try and sell tickets.

The Biancocelesti were on the receiving end of a lot of criticism and jokes over the weekend after the club offered a discounted ticket deal through Groupon: offering tickets as low as €16 to sit in the Curva Nord at the Stadio Olimpico for the team’s match against Cesena.

The early ticket statistics for Lotito’s club that have been revealed are putrid: Lazio have sold less than 8,000 season ticket subscriptions compared to Juventus’ 28,000, Roma’s 26,000, Inter’s and Fiorentina’s 20,000, and Sampdoria’s 18,000 subscriptions.
