Benatia reveals transfer details

Speaking to Kicker, Mehdi Benatia unveiled the details behind his move from Roma to Bayern Munich late in the transfer window.

“I talked about my future with the sporting director Walter Sabatini. They wanted to keep me, there wasn’t a need on their part to give me a pay raise and that bothered me, because I wanted to stay. I was hoping for Manchester City and Chelsea, but there were also approaches with Real Madrid and Barcelona. Let me be clear, I’m happy to be at Bayern. I really like Munich, even though it’s a little cold.”
