Roma still following Marko Basa

The Montenegrian international “will stay at Lille”, according to Lille OSC director of football Jean-Michel Vandamme.

Roma is still in pursuit of a centre back, after the situation with current Roma defender Mehdi Benatia (27) reached deadlock. Marko Baša (31) has been a rumored name for the backline, with Roma’s manager Rudi Garcia reportedly asking for him as the number one alternative in the case of Benatia’s departure. According to Lille newspaper La Voix du Nord, AS Roma made a formal offer of €5 million to Lille OSC for the defender. Lille, however, did not reply.

Lille OSC director of football, Jean-Michel Vandamme, interviewed by calciomercato.com, has made a clear statement about the future of  Baša: «Marko will surely remain at Lille. Rudi Garcia called him, but it’s impossibile for him to leave, I’m sure he will remain at the club».
