Roma President asks Benatia to stay

AS Roma’s hierarchy has made steps to secure Mehdi Benatia for the upcoming season.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma President James Pallotta spoke to defender Mehdi Benatia for 20 minutes when the President hosted the whole Roma squad at a family owned restaurant in Boston.

According to reports Pallotta said to Benatia: “Stay with Roma, accept a renewal and win the Scudetto with us.” Miralem Pjanic was apparently used as a translator between the two since Benatia does not speak English very well. Roma manager Rudi Garcia also said in his press conference yesterday that Benatia would be playing his football with Roma next season and it seems the chances of the Moroccan leaving the capital city are now very slim.
