Julio Sergio announces retirement

AS Roma goalkeeper Julio Sergio, most notably known for his spectacular season in 2009-2010, announced today on Instagram his retirement.

“Today is a sad day, I’ve decided to quit. After so many years full of emotion and several injuries, I can no longer play. I want to thank all of those who have helped make my childhood dream a wonderful reality! That’s why I want to give a special thought and ‘Thank You’ to AS Roma and the entire city that has hosted me for many years and that, to me, is the most beautiful in the world. It’s where I lived through incredible things, so thank you for everything and to everyone. I will always love you.”
