De Sanctis: Skorupski is my heir

AS Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis, in attendance for the first Zucchini Memorial in Pescara, spoke to Sky Italia this afternoon:

Do you miss the World Cup?
“It’s something I expected last year in March when I made a choice that proved to be correct. My role with Italy is well covered, first by Buffon, and then also by the other guys. There’s great awareness within the group to be able to have a very good World Cup – that’ll be crucial. Italy will do well because, after the group stage, they can be very dangerous for everyone. Spain, Germany, Argentina and Brazil have something more than the others but there will be some surprises.”

What about Benatia?
“I’ve already spoken to Sabatini. I’ve tuned out the excessive chatter by everybody with this story and I know better then from adding to it.”

Who will be the heir to De Sanctis?
“Skorupski. Definitely. He got the chance to play the last few games and show his worth. The club has a plan for him and next year he’ll play in more games. Roma has an abundance of talent at their disposal and they’ll try to help him grow well. I’ll glady give a hand to help contribute.”
