Seydou Keita’s first interview as a Roma player

Seydou Keita spoke for the first time today to Roma Channel after being introduced today as an AS Roma player:

Why did you choose Roma?
“It’s a big club with big ambitions just like me. I have reflected a lot, it’s a conscious choice and I’m glad to be here. This year Roma have big ambitions, to win trophies and that’s why I’m here.”

Your goal with Roma?
“I won a lot with Barcelona but I want to win more trophies. Roma have big ambitions, they came in second after a great season. My goal is to help the team win titles. The team will play in the Champions League and I hope to win something with Roma.”

You’re a “specialist” in the Champions League: what can you give your teammates for the competition?
“It’s true, I’ve got a lot of experience in the Champions League. I’ll bring my experience but there are so many other players here great experience. This is a great club with great players. I’ll battle on the pitch and try to make goals and assists and give my best to contribute. I’m hoping to win something together.”

Did you follow Roma this past season? What do you think of your new teammates?
“I’ve seen a few matches. I think it’s a great team, with strong individuals like Totti and Gervinho – there are so many great players. You don’t place second if you’re not strong. I’ll adapt and hope to bring something. I play football to win, to win trophies, to be up near the top and make the fans happy.”

A salute for the Roma fans…
“I’m very happy to be here. I hope I can fulfill what people expect of me, I hope to celebrate and rejoice with them for trophies.”
