Torino President dismisses Cerci transfer rumours

Torino President Urbano Cairo has spoken to Italian media about the potential future of Alessio Cerci.

“He has now had two very strong seasons. We have no intention to sell him nor will we set a price tag on him. With regards to these things Sabatini is better than me (laughs) but sure that if Benatia is valued at 61 million, we could also work out Cerci’s value.”

Cairo then spoke more specifically about the chances of a return to Rome for Cerci: “Let us just start by saying that we have not received any offer for him (Cerci). He is our top player, one that we own and since we are now in the Europa League we cannot afford too many sales. ”

Earlier this week Torino confirmed the departure of top goalscorer Ciro Immobile to Dortmund and are now desperate to hang on to Cerci who netted 13 goals and provided 10 assists in the 2013/14 campaign.
