Chievo’s Sartori impressed by Paredes

Giovanni Sartori, technical director of Chievo Verona, spoke to TeleRadioStereo regarding Roma’s Leandro Paredes, who was on loan with the Venetians for 5 months.

What drove you to accept the loan of Paredes?
“What convinced us was the relationship with Roma. Sometimes it happens where we’ll give a ‘courtesy’ (Roma could not take on Paredes immediately because they didn’t have any available non-EU player slots). We knew of Paredes and thought he could give us a hand. Unfortunately, he arrived injured and then it took him some time to recover and make the bench then to debut. He’s a great player.”

What kind of player is he? Is he a central midfielder like Pjanic or is he a trequarista?
“He can be a player to Totti, to a lower degree. He’s got great vision of the game and that’s important, he must increase his pace and he will — he’s still young. Since he came in with an injury, he was a little behind in preparation.”

Is he ready to be a leader?
“Maybe, I’m very cautious with young players. He’s got important technical qualities.”

Are you interested in Federico Ricci?
“He’s a good player but I doubt he’d be of much interest to us. We haven’t even met yet with Roma about Paredes or Stoian.”
