Kharja hopes for Benatia stay

Former AS Roma and Morocco international midfielder Houssine Kharja spoke today about the future of former teammate and friend Mehdi Benatia:

“I’ve known Mehdi for a long time, I love how he’s ambitious and likes to aim high, but frankly, I think he’s already at a big club and next year he’ll play in the Champions League. Roma has a great team composed of many champions, so I guess for at least a year or two the Giallorossi could make him grow more.”

How difficult is it to say ‘no’ to the calls of top European clubs?
“I know how hard it is to reject the proposals of the big clubs, but I think next year in Rome Benatia will have the great opportunity to win the Scudetto. An important milestone in a truly extraordinary league.”

The most credible contenders are Manchester City and Barcelona. Which one actually seems more suited for Benatia?
“Maybe the English one where he could once again meet his childhood friend Samir Nasri. Anyway, these are great clubs and he’s a great player, I don’t think he’d have any problems on the streets.”
