L’Equipe: Gervinho asks for transfer

According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Ivorian winger Gervinho has asked to leave the club after the club’s hierarchy refused to give him a pay raise.

Gervinho, who moved to the capital last summer, was signed from Arsenal last summer for €8m and signed a contract worth €2.4m per season and is supposedly seeking a pay raise to nearly €3m per season.

Sky Italy’s Alessandro Sugoni commented on the situation early this afternoon: “Gervinho leaving the capital? I believe fans can rest easy. After several difficult seasons at Arsenal, he’s just found himself doing his best with Garcia since his Lille days. I don’t think he’s interested in leaving and he will also have the chance to play in the Champions League.”
