Garcia: “Benatia will remain next season”

Manager Rudi Garcia spoke before his team embarked on their journey to the United States for their 3 day tour in Orlando:

Roma have extended the contract of Pjanic. Will you make sure to keep all your players, including Benatia?
“The renewal of Pjanic is a signal. We’ll keep our players and strengthen ourselves. Beantia has four years left on his contract and does not have a buyout clause, he’ll remain next season. Given his season, it makes sense that there are clubs interested in him.”

Your American leaders, particularly the president James Pallotta, were in Rome the last few days. What guarantees do they give you?
“We don’t have the means but we will do everything to keep up with every team without needing to sell…we worked hard last year. We sold 80 million and purchased for 50 million (this past summer). We don’t have to sell.”

On the renewal…
“I’ll be here next season. The team will spend a week in the U.S., in Orlando, as a sponsor. We will have plenty of time to discuss it. It’s not urgent, I have a contract and I believe in the project of the club. I’m fine here.”
