Chiellini escapes Azzurri suspension, awaits Tosel’s decision

News agencies Ansa and Il Messaggero have reported that Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has escaped punishment from Italian national team boss Cesare Prandelli has deemed Chiellini’s elbow to the face of Miralem Pjanic “involuntary”.

As for his standing with Serie A, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of the Football Federation has reported to the sports court that it would like the video evidence of yesterday’s incident. Sporting judge Gianpaolo Tosel will now be left with the decision as to whether Chiellini will be punished via video evidence or if the decision taken by the referee (a free kick with no yellow card) will suffice.
