Castan not distraught by no Brazil call

Brazilian centerback Leandro Castan spoke today; admitting he isn’t upset over not being called for the World Cup:

Disappointed (by not being called)?
“No, I knew he (Scolari) was calling Dante so it was unlikely that he will bring another left-handed centerback. At the World Cup, you must have players in which you trust, guys like Henrique who he knows and worked with at Palmeiras. My first time in national team with Felipao I figured that it would be the last.”

After a season like this, is there more sorrow or happiness?
No doubt there’s joy , we’ve done very well. We obtained direct qualification to the Champions League, it has been fantastic.”

Even for you, after the criticism you received last year, it was good revenge…
“To be a defender in Italy is difficult, your football is different from the Brazilian one. I needed a little time to acclimate, I was having trouble on several fronts.”

Especially with Zeman! (Laughs)
“With him, the pace was grueling, I’ve never seen such a thing in my life. Also, I did not speak Italian, it was difficult, there was a bit of confusion. With Zeman, we have didn’t agree on tactics, he wanted something different from everything I had learned in my career. But I do not want to speak badly of him, the coach has his story. Football is like that, like life, it happens.”

Juventus, who has already won the Scudetto, arrives on Sunday. Is it hard to be motivated with nothing at stake?
“No, it will still be a good game to play. It’s a challenge that will help us continue into the next season.”

Will Pjanic remain in Rome?
