Match Summary

Rudi Garcia’s men have gone on their summer vacation early as a lack of effort, fight, and urgency were on full display against Catania as the Giallorossi lost in horrendous fashion today in Sicily.

The Giallorossi opened the match in rather embarrassing fashion as the Sicilians looked much more determined than the capital club in the opening 45 minutes.

Catania caught Rudi Garcia’s out of position at the back several times in the opening period, and the Sicilians made Roma pay…twice. Mariano Izco, who entered the match having scored only one goal the entire season, caught Dodo out of position twice and two goals in 10 minutes to put Catania up 2-0. Roma, shaken by the two quick goals, answered quickly after the second goal to get themselves on the scoreboard and enter the half down 2-1.

Very little changed in the second half. Garcia’s men looked like they didn’t feel like being on the pitch as Catania added another two goals thanks to strikes from Gonzalo Bergessio and Pablo Barrientos, as Roma lost 4-1.

Roma will host Juventus next weekend at the Stadio Olimpico.
