Sabatini to meet with Vertonghen’s agents

According to Italian paper Il Messaggero AS Roma’s Sporting Director Walter Sabatini has asked to meet with the representatives of Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen.

There have been reports in recent days that the player’s agents have already met with Roma executives at the Savoy Hotel in Florence but these reports have been squashed by those close to both Spurs and the player.  Vertonghen’s valuation is reportedly hovering around 15 million, a very steep price but one which could be negotiated upon considering that Tottenham still owe installments of Lamela’s transfer to Roma.

After this weekend’s home game against Milan, Sabatini is likely to discuss further moves with manager Rudi Garcia and one name that is likely to come up is that of Rafa Silva, currently of Braga. Rafa Silva is seen as a potential replacement for Miralem Pjanic and Roma are also following young, Turkish midfielder Salih Uçan.

Il Messaggero reports that Roma will also meet with the representatives of Porto striker Jackson Martinez to analyse whether a potential deal could be reached.

In the time that Roma have been tracking the above targets, they have also apparently lost out on Verona forward Manuel Iturbe who is supposedly a few moves away from securing a move to Real Madrid.
