Exclusive: Roma interested in Catania’s Gino Peruzzi

Preparing for the drop and looking for buyers: this is the mind-set of Catania. The club is ready to spend next season in Serie B and they are looking to sell in order to prepare for the inevitable loss in revenues when they make the drop to the Italian second tier.

Roma Press has learned exclusively that Roma have contacted Catania for their young Argentine fullback Gino Peruzzi, who arrived just last summer after the Sicilians paid €3.4m plus bonuses to Vélez Sársfield (who inserted a clause that will see them make 15% of any future sale of the player). Peruzzi, who has already been capped 4 times by Argentina’s national team, has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring one goal. He has been one of the few bright spots for the club, after what has been a disastrous campaign for the Rossazzurri.

No formal negotiations have begun, but the Giallorossi are interested in the player who will likely cost between €4m-€6m. With the several injuries to Maicon and the inconsistent play at leftback, Roma are looking to upgrade their flanks.
