Florenzi: “Roma? It’s a dream come true”

Alessandro Florenzi spoke today regarding his boyhood club to Italian magazine La Freccia:

You grew up in the youth system of Roma, what does that mean to you?
“It’s no doubt a source of pride, a dream come true. Roma has allowed me to improve, to become a professional and with the shirt that I’ve always supported, all with the possibility of having my family at my side. I really couldn’t have hoped for better. Now I just have to continue to run and sweat to remain and to continue dreaming with open eyes.”

You have played many positions in your career, which do you prefer?
“The one like Rudi Garcia has asked me to play. But I have to admit, that I enjoy all areas of the midfield.”

From a player to a fan: whether at the stadium or on TV, do you enjoy watching other teams or other leagues?
“No, I only get excited for Roma. I follow the other teams on TV, but with a critical eye, not as a fan. It’s part of my job, it helps me learn, to study our opponents, to understand some of the movements of my senior colleagues.”

Passions other than football?
“I really like to play pool, it helps me to reflect and find concentration. Besides, I love to spend my free evenings at home with friends, we often have fun with karaoke.”

Is there a place in Rome that you’re particularly fond of?
“Piazza Venezia, the heart of the city, between Capitol Hill and the Roman Forum. Also, it reminds me of my happy past with my current girlfriend. It’s a great place.”

Which Roma were you fond of? Dreams you’d like to see for the club?
“Spalletti’s Roma, as a fan he gave me a lot of satisfaction. He played really well and managed to get noticed around Italy and in Europe. I would like my Roma to return to those levels.”
