Match Summary

Roma continue to march on and add to their incredible points total this season, as the Giallorossi beat Atalanta 3-1 at the Stadio Olimpico this evening in dominant fashion.

Rudi Garcia’s men dominated the opening 45 minutes as the Giallorossi enjoyed nearly 70% of the possession in the first half. Roma had plenty of opportunities due to Ivorian winger Gervinho being given free-reign in the final third of the field.

Roma took the lead as Rodrigo Taddei fired past Andrea Consigli for his second goal of the season. Just before half-time, Serbian playmaker Adem Ljajic, who was starting for the first time in nearly a month, doubled the Giallorossi’s lead as he capped a fantastic run of play by Garcia’s men.

The Giallorossi continued to coast into the second half, Gervinho increased Roma’s lead to 3-0 after another tap-in past Consigli, who didn’t really have much of a chance to stop any of Roma’s goals this evening.

Atalanta grabbed a consolation goal thanks to a header from Giulio Migliaccio as the match ended in a 3-1 scoreline.

Roma have now equaled their club record of 24 wins in a season, which was happened in the 2007-2008 and 2009-2010 seasons. The Giallorossi travel to Firenze next week to take on Vicenzo Montella’s men at the Franchi.
