Roma Unveil New Stadium

Roma president James Pallotta and lead architect Dan Meis lead the presentation today of A.S Roma’s new stadium, the “Stadio della Roma”, which is set to open for the 2016 season.

President James Pallotta addressed the media who were in attendance for the event. “We have worked exceptionally hard over the past two years and particularly in recent months in collaboration with Mayor Marino and his administration in developing this stadium project for AS Roma, the City of Rome and our great fans. The city and fans deserve this a world class stadium. We are confident the Stadio della Roma will be among the best in the world and a key driver for the club’s continued success. It is extremely important that the project provides a safe and secure year-round sports, entertainment, shopping and dining experience for the people and visitors of Rome. For a stadium development to be truly successful today, it must become part of the everyday fabric of people’s lives. This integrated project provides such an opportunity, creates thousands of jobs many new and sustainable business opportunities.”

The highlights of the presentation are below:

– The stadium will cost approximately €300m and will located in the Tor di Valle area
– Roma will look to have the stadium open by the 2016-2017 season
– The stadium will have a capacity of 52,000 with the ability to expand to 60,000
– Naming rights have not been sold yet, but this will likely be done as the stadium opening approaches
