Match Summary

The Giallorossi stole all 3 points in their encounter with Torino thanks to the late heroics of hometown boy Alessandro Florenzi. Rudi Garcia’s team, who looked certain to draw, collected the win as his team remains firmly in second place and await to see the result of Napoli, who play tomorrow.

Both Garcia’s and Ventura’s men made their intentions obvious in the opening portion of the match as a very open match saw ample opportunities for both clubs to open the scoring.

Torino’s Daniele Padelli was the hero for Torino in the opening 45 minutes as the former Udinese man pulled off incredible saves on both Mattia Destro and Francesco Totti to deny Roma from taking the lead. Just minutes before Mauro Bergonzi would blow for half-time, Mattia Destro struck for his 9th goal of the season to give Roma a 1-0 lead entering the break.

As the second half commenced, Ciro Immobile leveled for the visitors after a beautiful volley found it’s way past Morgan De Sanctis to make it 1-1.

As the game lingered even throughout the second half, Rudi Garcia introduced Adem Ljajic, Michel Bastos, and Alessandro Florenzi as the Frenchman wanted his mean to push forward.

Just as it looked as though both teams would share the spoils, Alessandro Florenzi fired home past Daniele Padelli in extra time as the Roman allowed his hometown team to steal all 3 points from Ventura’s men.
