Match Summary
The Giallorossi captured three points in hard-nosed fashion as Rudi Garcia’s men won 2-0 in Veneto in this evening thanks to goals from Gervinho and Mattia Destro.

With the rain pouring down and the field in less-than-perfect shape, a gritty performance was required by Roma in order to take points in Veneto, and that’s exactly the performance Roma had.

Roma controlled the greater portion of possession in the opening half, as Rudi Garcia’s men sought to control the tempo of the match as Chievo defended with 11 men behind the ball.

After attempts from Radja Nainggolan and Mattia Destro went astray, Roma were given a gift as misplaced header back to Chievo goalkeeper Agazzi was intercepted by Gervinho and slotted by the former Cagliari man to open up the scoring.

Minutes later, Morgan De Sanctis was called into action as a through-ball by Luca Rigoni was placed perfectly at the feet of Alberto Paloschi but De Sanctis came off his line and saved on AC Milan-owned player perfectly.

Mattia Destro then doubled Roma’s lead as Rodrigo Taddei completed an inch-perfect pass to Destro who finished calmly past Agazzi to put Roma up 2-0 at halftime, which ultimately, ended as the final result.

The three points keeps Roma in second as the Giallorossi now await the result of third-placed Napoli.
