Roma Make Davide Santon Inquiry

Roma Press has learned exclusively that Walter Sabatini & Co. have inquired about the availability of Newcastle’s Davide Santon.

Sabatini has already made a formal inquiry to Newcastle to gauge whether or not the club would be willing to sell the player. Thus far, talks have been positive but there have been no formal discussions or negotiations with the player’s agent, Renzo Contratto. Newcastle value the player between €8m-€10m.

Newcastle may be ready to cash in on Santon in the summer since they will make a profit on the player and also because they are unlikely to make a European competition for the second year in a row. Roma, meanwhile, will definitely be looking for a new fullback in the summer given the age of Maicon, the long absence of Federico Balzaretti, and the inconsistent performances of Dodo. Santon, who moved to Newcastle from Inter in 2011, admitted that Roma were after his services in 2011 before opting to join the EPL club.
