Marquinho Explains Roma Departure

On-loan winger Marquinho explained his reasoning for leaving the Giallorossi in the winter transfer window after Hellas Verona’s 3-2 victory over Livorno. The Brazilian, who arrived in the winter of 2012, had been struggling for playing time under Rudi Garcia all season.

“Today I played a good match. We pushed a lot in the first half and scored three goals.”

In the second half you thought you had already won?

“No, we had done something wrong, but after their two goals we pushed more. Immediately after the second goal we did well again.”

Why did you leave Roma?
“It was a choice shared with Garcia and Sabatini. I wanted to play more and in my role, I did not have much space in Rome because I have different characteristics from those who Garcia likes. I’ve come here because the team is doing well and I wanted to continue with them in this great championship.”
