Borini: “Totti is a Legend”

Sunderland striker and former A.S Roma player Fabio Borini spoke candidly today about his former club and colleagues.

No regrets for having left Italy?
“I made a choice and when I choose I do not ever look back, because it makes no sense. It’s obvious, I’m Italian so one day I will return, but for the moment I do not think about it.”

It was said that while at Roma you did not get along well with your teammates…
“False. I have a different view than your colleagues of Italian football. I did not go to a dinner party and blew a couple chancea. But I never fought with anyone. And indeed, if I talk to my girlfriend from Rome I get bright-eyed. It was the best year of my career, I left a piece of my heart there.

Why go on?
“It was the best solution. I had the chance to play at Liverpool, where Rodgers drove me a lot, and I felt it would be a step forward in my career. The club also agreed to secure this move.”

The Scudetto?
“It’s too early to say, missing many games at the end of the season. Though if I was a Juventus player I would not be so quiet.”

This Roma is stronger than yours?
” Well, I see that the famous project begins to gather some results. Given the many changes, it was a physiological period of construction. The club has made major purchases, starting with Strootman, who I had as an opponent in the European Under-21 championships, and he strengthened them. We created the foundation for a great future.”

Who is better: Totti or Suarez?
“I won’t answer. Surely Suarez is indomitable, a striker who never gives up. I’d like to beat him at the World Cup. Totti? He’s a legend.”
