Garcia’s Pre-Parma Press Conference

Rudi Garcia spoke today, the day before his team’s clash with Roberto Donadoni’s Parma.

“First I want to say that I have respect for those who are gone, they were Roma players early in the season. It’s not normal to change the whole team in January, but so are the rules.

“I’m glad that the market has closed. Toloi is a player who is still young, but not so young, already has experience.

“It’s true that the third behind Castan and Benatia was Burdisso, but as Burdisso wanted to go away for me it was important to be sure to have one more solution. That’s why I’m happy with the arrival of Toloi.”

Has the market left the gap between Roma and Juventus unchanged?
“A coach who sees new players coming always hopes that things go well, I see Nainggolan and it seems that he has been with us since the beginning, Bastos is improving day by day and we will do the same with Toloi.

“It ‘easy to get into this dressing room, it is easy to integrate when there are people with great class and experience.”

How to deal with these games so close?
“The goal is always to win both in the league and in the Coppa Italia, but now tomorrow’s game matters, we play at home to continue what we did in Verona, we have to take all three points.

“Parma have qualities, have not lost in ten matches, but as we and all teams have weaknesses, we must go forward and we are motivated to do so, every game is important, but tomorrow’s one more, we will have time to think about Napoli.”

Do you think Roma will be disadvantaged by these problems with the weather?
“It’s true that in winter the fields are worse, but I think more of the stadiums than of the fields , the fields are more or less good, sometimes stadiums are unbelievable… it’s not my problem.

“In Rome there is the advantage and the disadvantage that the field is hard, sometimes too hard, but I think tomorrow we will truly have a field of quality, the weather these days has been more like in Lille than in Rome.”

How does it feel to see Osvaldo at Juventus?
“Only Conte can answer, I can talk about Osvaldo, he is a quality player, he was with us at the beginning, he went to England and he is now back in Italy, there are strange things in the market, it does not change anything for us, it is not my problem, it will be a problem when we will take on Juventus in the penultimate league match, but we still have time.”

Romagnoli and Jedvaj not going on loan…
“Romagnoli and Jedvaj are two different cases, Tin is only 18 years old, Romagnoli is ready to play, I kept him because of Dodo’s injury, with Balzaretti out, he can play as center back, there will be way for them to prove their quality, but Romagnoli can also play on the left.”

Can Bastos make the squad? Happy with the market in defense?
“Bastos will be called up. The market is sufficient , the bad luck is that after Balzaretti operated, Dodo also injured himself, we have five games left and there will be three league games in a week, we hope to have the opportunity to have Dodo and Balzaretti back, but we have Torosidis on the left, as well as Bastos and as I said Romagnoli.”

Team rotation according to bookings and warnings?

“The different thing from France is that the bookings do not accumulate, there it is different, Nainggolan can play in the Coppa Italia, this is an advantage if one is suspended there will be another one, I only think of how many days there are between two games, we’ll see tomorrow, I am more worried about the third game.”

Looking at Juve or Napoli? How are Pjanic and Strootman?

“They’re fine, they trained with the group. You have to win, after we win we will look at the rankings, there is not an order I prefer, nor ahead nor behind.”

How will you manage Totti?
“Almost like the others, at 37 it is more difficult to play three games in a week, but it is common sense, after his injury all goes well for him and for us, we all know how important he is that he plays at 100% managing his playing time.

“He can start the three games, but can not finish them, this is my point, we will see it, just common sense, adaptation and eyes open.”

“They can play 4-3-3, 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 which is the same, I hope it will be a great game, it is a team with an identity, they play well, with players who have been playing together for a while, it will be difficult to win but we have no other goal than the three points and we have to do it.”
