Roma Buy Sanabria, Set for Sassuolo Loan

The long, drawn out saga is over — Roma have agreed a fee of €4.5m with Barcelona for Paraguayan forward Antonio Sanabria. The agreement with Spanish club spells the end of a two month negotiation for the player’s services as the forward will join Roma but immediately be loaned to Sassuolo until June.

Since Roma do not have any available non-EU roster slots, the club had to find a willing partner to take the player on loan for six months. Sassuolo, as well as Sampdoria and Chievo were all in contact with Roma for the player. Sanabria will arrive in Italy early next week and is expected to be available to Eusebio Di Francesco for his team’s February 2nd match against Verona.
