Burdisso Leaves, Heitinga Awaits

The market remains busy for the Giallorossi. Last week, Roma Press confirmed that Nicolas Burdisso would be sold to Genoa and sign a 1.5 year contract. Today, Roma has officially sold him to Genoa. The Argentine, who has been at the club since 2009, was looking for consistent playing time as he continues to hope for a World Cup place with Argentina’s national team.

The sale of Burdisso means that Dutch centerback John Heitinga of Everton will likely arrive at the capital. The Dutchman has fallen out of favor with Roberto Martinez and his agent, Karl Jansen, has held talks with Roma officials, confirming that the Giallorossi are a candidate for his client’s services. The Dutchman has already admitted he has a desire to play in Italy and that Roma are a “top club”. Heitinga will likely sign either a 1.5 year of 2.5 year contract with Rudi Garcia’s men as he looks to fill the shoes of Nicolas Burdisso.
