Bastos Arrives in Rome, Will Sign Tomorrow

Michel Bastos has landed at Fiuminico airport in Rome ahead of his proposed move to the Giallorossi. After entering the terminal the former Lille man spoke briefly saying, “Forza Roma! I am very happy to be here.”

Bastos, who this season was plying his trade at Al-Ain in the UAE, will arrive on a 6 month loan with an option to make the deal permanent in June for €3.5m and a two year contract. The Brazilian will have his medical examination tomorrow and, if all goes well, will also sign his contract. The player will also attend Tuesday’s Coppa Italia match between Roma and Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.

Bastos, a former Brazilian international, is expected to be deployed as a leftback in Rudi Garcia’s 4-3-3 formation due to the sustained absence of Federico Balzaretti.
