Summary:

Roma got back to winning ways as the Giallorossi saw off Genoa in wonderful fashion as they thrashed Gian Piero Gasperini’s men 4-0. The win keeps Roma firmly in 2nd place with 44 points as they host Livorno next Sunday.

The opening half was completely controlled by the Giallorossi. The first thirty minutes saw Roma control 75% of the possession and knock two goals past Azzurrini goalkeeper Mattia Perin, with the most notable goal coming from an Alessandro Florenzi scorpion kick and the Giallorossi entered the half up 3-0 thanks to additional goals from Francesco Totti and Maicon.

Roma didn’t look likely to take their foot off of the gas pedal in the second half as they continued their assault on Mattia Perin’s goal. Gervinho and Radja Nainggolan appeared to be the likely candidates to add a fourth but Roma’s final goal came from nobody other than Mehdi Benatia, as the centerback was able to head home his 5th goal of the season, joining him at the top of Roma’s scoring charts with Alessandro Florenzi.

Roma host struggling Livorno next weekend at 6:00 CET at the Stadio Olimpico.
