A.S Roma were able to collect their first victory in over a month as the Giallorossi were able to see off Vicenzo Montella’s men in a 2-1 victory at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma wasted little time in finding the opening goal as Gervinho was able to dance around the entire Fiorentina backline and pick out Maicon for the tap-in, as it marked the first goal scored by the Brazilian in giallorosso.

Instead of trying to go for another goal, Roma seemed to let-off and became incredibly passive as Fiorentina were given several chances on goal. La Viola finally found their equalizer as Nenad Tomovic was able to glide past Dodo and pick out Juan Vargas who smashed home the tying goal and the clubs entered the break tied 1-1.

As the second half started, Rudi Garcia introduced Mattia Destro, marking the season debut for the former Inter striker. Destro, coming off of a long absence due to a leg injury, didn’t feel the need to wait long to open his account as he powered home a beautiful Gervinho assist to put the Giallorossi up 2-1, marking the winning goal for the Giallorossi.

The win takes Roma 5 points clear of 3rd placed Napoli and keeps them 3 points from Juventus at the top of Serie A.

As Roma looked to be out of time, Adem Ljajic was able to pick out Kevin Strootman who tapped home the equalizer in the 89th minute to salvage a point for the Giallorossi and maintain their unbeaten streak.
