A.S Roma will look to get back to winning ways after consecutive 1-1 draws to Torino and Sassuolo, respectively. However, Roma have a tall order on Monday as they welcome Cagliari to the Olimpico. The Sardinian club has dominated Roma over the last two years, with Roma’s only victory coming by way of a 3-0 forfeit due to the Cagliari stadium debacle. Cagliari has scored 10 goals in their last three meetings with Roma, having collected all 9 points possible from those encounters.

Manager Rudi Garcia is fully aware of the threat the Sardinians pose to the Giallorossi as they will be playing with extra motivation due to the severe floods on the island of Sardegna. “With the return of Pinilla they have many more choices, they have players who have been playing together for many years, it is an advantage for them because they are familiar with the form of the game and have strong players, but what matters most is to play well. I hope it will be possible to play well because then the ball must roll on the field, but with this schedule is difficult, I have never seen a rugby match two days before a football game, it looks like a strange schedule to me.”

He continued, “Our start to the season has given confidence to everyone and the desire to continue to give their best, as I said with this exceptional path we are only one point ahead of Juventus and for this reason we must keep our feet on the ground because anything can happen, even to remain in first place on Monday evening.”

Roma and Cagliari meet on Monday at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome at 8:45 CET.
