Analysis:

A.S Roma’s perfect start to the season has finally been snapped as Torino were able to draw 1-1 with the Giallorossi. Roma remain at the top of the Serie A table, however, they drop their first points of the season.

The first half saw Roma dominate possession and allow Torino very few opportunities to get on the scoreboard. The Giallorossi were controlling the play in Torino’s final third of the pitch throughout the opening half hour but seemed unable to slip anything past goalkeeper Daniele Padelli. Roma’s persistence finally paid off as a short corner was capped off by a goal from Kevin Strootman in the 28th minute. Torino wasted little time in trying to equalize when they were given a free-kick just a few yards outside Roma’s penalty area but Alessio Cerci went just above the post as the Giallorossi entered the half up 1-0.

Il Toro entered the second half with an eye for goal. The Turin-based club began an assault on Roma’s goal and Morgan De Sanctis was called upon on several occasions — most notably on a sublime volley by Riccardo Meggiorini. Torino was finally able to get their goal and break Roma’s clean sheet record in the 63rd minute as Alessio Cerci tapped it home against his former club to even things up 1-1 to allow Torino to grab a point against the Giallorossi.

Roma remain in first place and now have a week to recover until they face Sassuolo next weekend at the Stadio Olimpico in Roma.
