Analysis:

A.S Roma have tied Fabio Capello’s Juventus for the longest winning streak to open a season as the Giallorossi were able to grind out a hard fought victory at the Stadio Friuli.

Udinese wasted no time in trying to snap Roma’s perfect start. Two quick counter-attacks saw Federico Balzaretti caught out of position with the move capped off by Luis Muriel hitting the post, nearly putting Udinese ahead after just minutes. Udinese continued to press the Giallorossi into mistakes and they were nearly able to do so as a De Rossi back-pass put De Sanctis into danger and Roma nearly, again, saw themselves go down 1-0. Udinese continued to look the more dangerous side throughout the half as they were able to hold the Giallorossi at bay.

As the second half progressed, the tide turned dramatically as Mauro Bergonzi showed Maicon his second yellow of the match which saw the Brazilian international expelled from the match. Udinese continued to push the envelope and nearly saw their efforts pay off as Toto Di Natale nearly found the back of the net.

Roma continued to thwart the attack of Udinese and they were finally rewarded as the 10 man Giallorossi found a goal through substitute Michael Bradley, who buried a beautiful pass by Kevin Strootman.

Roma remain perfect and stay on top of the Serie A table. They will face Chievo Verona on Thursday at the Stadio Olimpico.
