Analysis:

Roma have climbed to the top of the Serie A table after their 3-1 victory over Parma this evening. The Giallorossi are off to their best start since 2007 after coming from a goal down away from home.

The first half saw Parma and Roma trading barbs as both clubs had several goal scoring opportunities with Parma making the most of their chances through a sublime header via Jonathan Biabiany. Biabiany gave fits to the Roma back line, especially Federico Balzaretti who was unable to keep pace with the Frenchman the entire match.

Parma saw their first half lead dissolve quickly after the break, as Alessandro Florenzi capitalized on a Parma error and buried a blazing shot into the back of the net. Parma pushed the envelope after Roma’s equalizer, as an Amauri header was close to reclaiming the lead for Parma.

Roma took the lead as Totti beat the offside trap and was left one on one with Antonio Mirante, the captain left little certainty as he opened his goalscoring for the season. The goal marked Totti’s 18th career goal against Parma, which is more than other club in Italy for the Roma talisman.

The final blow was dealt to Parma after Mattia Cassani brought down Gervinho with a clumsy challenge in the area, resulting in a penalty for Roma which was buried by Kevin Strootman.

Roma will take on S.S Lazio next week, marking the first chapter of the Derby della Capitale for the season.
