“Take 5” is our new segment where we ask five questions to various calcio journalists, reporters, and tifosi.

First up is Marco Buccino (@buccinomarco) of RomaNews.us:

Grade Roma’s mercato:
Marquinhos, Osvaldo and Lamela have been very big losses to face, but new signings have highly bolstered the squad. Maicon can return to his levels at Inter, Strootman is proving to be a world-class player already fit for the Serie A (a league much harder than the Eredivisie), and Ljajic had the best possible impact on his debut. The only missing piece of the puzzle is a centre forward, but I am sure Borriello will give his best to replace Destro. I would give Roma’s summer transfer window an 8 out of 10.

Roma’s greatest strength?
Rudi Garcia. The new coach reminds me of Antonio Conte in his first year at Juventus, for the new mentality he has brought to the whole environment disapponted and rightly let down after two wasted seasons. If the players keep following his ideas, this group can go far and make their supporters happy once again.

What do you hope to see improved from last season?
Not losing crucial points in matches against low-mid table teams would have allowed Roma to qualify for the Champions League in spite of everything that happened under Zeman and Andreazzoli. The two compelling wins over newly-promoted Livorno and Verona can mean much on this side.

Roma’s most important player?
I would say Totti for all that he means to this city, this team, and their fans, but I think Strootman will play a key role. Not only improving the quality in midfield and helping De Rossi and Pjanic at his side, but also giving more protection to the back line and assisting the three-pronged attack.

Where do you predict Roma will finish in the table?
It is really hard to predict as they only played two games, but on paper I guess this team could easily reach a European spot after three years of absence.
